HOUSTON – Texas Lawyer recognized Bracewell LLP partners Bucky Brannen, Nancy McEvily Davis and Drew Taggart as Rising Stars as part of the 2023 Texas Legal Awards. They are among a select group of lawyers under the age of 40 who have wielded influence in their practice areas in Texas and beyond.
Brannen advises clients on reducing state and local taxes (SALT) in every phase of business. He helps negotiate pre-investment economic incentives, structure operations to minimize tax, manage audits and dispute assessments and property tax valuations, and facilitate growth through tax-efficient restructurings, acquisitions and dispositions.
With significant jury trial experience, Davis represents domestic and international companies in complex commercial disputes in a variety of industries, including energy, and banking and finance. Her practice focuses on disputes involving breach of contract, fraud and other business torts, civil rights, eminent domain, inverse condemnation, personal injury and product liability.
Taggart is a commercial litigator with first-chair jury and bench trial experience and international arbitration experience. He has had the lead role in state and federal court hearings, mediations, trials and depositions to resolve complex oil and gas, intellectual property, construction, environmental, and securities litigation.
The Texas Legal Awards are presented annually by ALM Media’s Texas Lawyer and highlight the outstanding work and achievements across the full breadth of the state’s legal community. This year’s winners will be profiled in a future issue of Texas Lawyer.
