Bracewell's Fourth Annual Day of Service

Bracewell employees across the country participated in the fourth annual Day of Service, sponsored by the firm’s Associate Inclusion Committee. Each U.S. office gave back to their respective communities by lending support, resources and services to charitable organizations. The firm-wide events were held throughout the month of January in support of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service.

The itinerary for each office’s Day of Service is below.

Austin – Central Texas Food Bank – January 24

The Capital Area Food Bank of Texas provides food and grocery products to more than 300 Partner Agencies and provides more than 26 million meals to the community each year. Bracewell volunteers inspected and sorted food donated by local retailers to help serve families in 21 Central Texas counties at soup kitchens, food pantries, after-school programs, snack programs and other service sites.

Connecticut – HARC– January 23

HARC helps people with intellectual disabilities and their families enjoy lives of quality, inclusion and dignity by providing support, education and advocacy. HARC provides a full array of services throughout the lifespan of an individual. Bracewell volunteers assisted with the adult enrichment program, doing arts and crafts and other group engagement activities.

Dallas – Buckner’s Children’s Home – January 31

Buckner Children’s Home is a part of Buckner International, an organization that offers a variety of programs to help protect children and build strong families. Bracewell volunteers interacted and played with children currently in the foster system at Buckner Children’s Home while foster parents received training.

Houston – Houston Food Bank– January 24

The Houston Food Bank is the nation’s largest Feeding America food bank and serves as a source of food for hunger relief charities in 18 Southeast Texas counties. Its network of 500 food pantries, soup kitchens, senior centers and other agencies, feed a total of 137,000 people each week, providing 50 million nutritious meals annually. Bracewell volunteers packed food boxes to be delivered to area seniors in need.

New York – Publicolor – January 24

Publicolor engages disconnected students through a continuum of arts and design-based after-school and summer programs that teach students marketable skills, a disciplined work ethic, and essential life skills. The Bracewell volunteers painted alongside students and informally mentored them by talking about the importance of education and how to prepare for college and a career.

San Antonio – San Antonio Food Bank – January 24

The San Antonio Food Bank provides food and grocery products to more than 500 partner agencies in 16 counties throughout Southwest Texas. Bracewell volunteers inspected and sorted food donated by local retailers to be distributed to the community.

Seattle – Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission – January 24

Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission provides food, shelter and care to hurting and homeless people in the greater Seattle area. Every day 2,000 meals are served to men, women and children, and every night, 241 people fill the emergency shelters. Bracewell volunteers prepped, prepared, and served a hot lunch.

Washington, D.C. – The Capital Area Food Bank – January 14

The Capital Area Food Bank (CAFB) feeds those suffering from hunger in the Washington metro area by acquiring food and distributing it through its network of 500 partner agencies; and educating, empowering and enlightening the community about the issues of hunger and nutrition. CAFB serves nearly 500,000 people in the region distributing 37.5 million meals annually. Bracewell volunteers inspected, sorted and packed food donations.
