Bracewell Shortlisted for Three 2021 Financial Times Innovative Lawyers North America Awards

HOUSTON – Financial Times has named Bracewell LLP a finalist for three 2021 FT Innovative Lawyers North America Awards. Entering its 15th year, the annual program recognizes innovations by lawyers, law firms, in-house legal teams and other legal service providers. Winners will be announced at a virtual awards ceremony on December 9.

Bracewell has been shortlisted in three categories:

  • Innovation in Social Justice: Bracewell’s Policy Resolution Group provided pro bono representation of The Trevor Project, the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to LGBTQ+ youth, in its efforts to make 9-8-8 the National Suicide Prevention Hotline and to ensure that acutely at-risk groups, including LGBTQ+ youth, can access specialized services.

  • Innovation in Sustainability and ESG: Bracewell’s environment, lands and resources group advised Resource Environmental Solutions, LLC (RES) – a green subsidiary of global investment firm KKR – in the negotiation and execution of a unique fixed-price, habitat restoration, maintenance and liability transfer agreement with Klamath River Renewal Corporation. RES is providing restoration services to remove four dams on the Klamath River, which stretches across California and Oregon.

  • Innovation in Rescue and Recovery: Bracewell’s energy regulatory team, acting on behalf of Rockies Express Pipeline LLC, created a first-time opportunity for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to rule before a producer’s bankruptcy filing prevented it from doing so because of automatic stay.
