The National Law Journal Names Dee Martin 2020 Trailblazer

WASHINGTON, DC — The National Law Journal has named Bracewell LLP partner E. Dee Martin to its inaugural list of Washington, DC Trailblazers. In a special supplement to the NLJ published Tuesday, Martin was recognized among an elite group of 50 lawyers who have “made significant marks on the practice, policy and technological advancement of their practice.” Among other things, NLJ highlighted Martin’s work for the FBI Agents Association during the 2019 United States government shutdown.

According to the NLJ profile, Martin – who co-chairs Bracewell’s Policy Resolution Group – began her career as a political activist, and she still considers herself an activist and lobbyist today. Martin expects that the COVID-19 pandemic may alter how lobbying and advocacy will continue in the future. She expects that using social media to advance messages and policy goals will continue to grow in importance.

Martin notes “[e]very single member of Congress has a Twitter account. Every committee of jurisdiction has a Twitter account, every executive agency – everyone uses Twitter to communicate. Having a powerful narrative that can be easily disseminated over social media really helps us gain traction.”
