How to Ask Employees About Vaccination Status

Bracewell’s Bob Nichols recently shared with the Society for Human Resource Management best-practice suggestions for how employers should ask employees about their COVID-19 vaccination status.

Nichols said an employer “should avoid structuring the questions as to invite an explanation for the employee’s position” and recommended survey questions that call for a “yes” or “no” response.

In-depth questions could force employees to disclose disability-related information, which is prohibited by the Americans with Disabilities Act.
