PARIS – Bracewell France AARPI advised Harmony Energy France on its divestment to Alpiq of France’s largest battery energy storage system (BESS) project currently commissioned, with a total combined installed capacity of 100 MW.

This milestone transaction marks a significant step forward in the country’s energy transition and underscores the strategic importance of large-scale energy storage solutions.

The project, which boasts a total installed capacity of 100 MW, stands out for its integration of advanced Tesla Megapack and Autobidder technologies. With the ability to supply electricity to around 170,000 homes for two hours, the facility demonstrates the vital role of battery storage in supporting France’s electricity network.

Bracewell provided support throughout the entire bidding process, including the drafting and negotiation of the share purchase agreement. The project’s innovative design and substantial capacity are set to contribute meaningfully to reducing carbon emissions, enhancing grid resilience and energy security, and mitigating volatility in electricity prices across France.

This divestment reinforces the commitment of both Harmony Energy France and Alpiq to accelerating the deployment of cutting-edge renewable energy infrastructure and supporting the nation’s shift towards a more sustainable energy future.

“We are proud to support Harmony Energy France on a landmark transaction that further strengthens France’s position as a leading market for utility‑scale battery storage,” said Anne Lapierre, managing partner of Bracewell’s Paris office. “This project exemplifies the critical role storage solutions play in accelerating the energy transition and ensuring long‑term system reliability.”
