Bracewell’s Frank Maisano stated to Newsweek that President Joe Biden’s offshore drilling ban would have little impact at the gas pump.
“I don’t think it will have much impact on prices or production,” Maisano said. “It is largely symbolic.”
Maisano agreed that the long lag in time between permitting and production for offshore rigs, coupled with the bans not affecting active drilling permits and carving out the most important areas of offshore production such as the western Gulf of Mexico near Texas and Louisiana, would mean little short-term effect at the pump.
