HOUSTON – Bracewell LLP appellate litigator Warren W. Harris has been named a finalist for Attorney of the Year at the 2024 Texas Legal Awards, which spotlight individuals who have not only shaped the law but have also achieved extraordinary outcomes for their clients.
Harris, who leads the firm’s appellate practice, handles high-stakes appeals in Texas and across the country. He is recognized for achieving several groundbreaking victories that have helped reshape legal precedents, including in June 2024 when he successfully reinstated a $70 million judgment in favor of The University of Texas for IDEXX Laboratories’ failure to pay the required royalties under a licensing agreement. Harris also led the appellate team that secured a Texas Supreme Court win for Apache Corp. in a lawsuit involving purchase and sales agreements and mineral leases. In addition, last August, Harris – who is the immediate past president of the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers and a past president of the Houston Bar Association and the Texas Supreme Court Historical Society – scored a significant victory in a high-profile sex trafficking lawsuit against business software provider Salesforce.
The Texas Legal Awards, which are presented annually by ALM Media’s Texas Lawyer, celebrate trailblazing lawyers who have left an indelible mark on the legal landscape of Texas. The winners will be announced at an awards dinner on October 15 at the Arts District Mansion in Dallas.
