HOUSTON – R. Daniel Witschey Jr., a partner in Bracewell LLP’s Houston office, has been elected a Fellow of the American College of Governance Counsel. He is one of 22 lawyers in the United States and Canada who were elected to the College’s sixth class.
Established in 2014, the American College of Governance Counsel is a professional, educational and honorary association that recognizes distinguished professionals who excel in counseling boards and directors, officers and others charged with governance responsibilities. Fellows and Honorary Fellows are chosen from the ranks of lawyers in the United States and Canada who have displayed a high level of professionalism and a commitment to the advancement of governance practices.
Witschey advises companies, their boards of directors and committees on a range of corporate and securities matters, including corporate governance and fiduciary duties. He has frequently represented special committees of master limited partnerships in conflict situations ranging from dropdown transactions to equity restructurings and sales of the company.
Witschey served a six-year term on the ABA Business Law Section’s Corporate Laws Committee and continues to serve as its Secretary. That committee drafts and revises the Model Business Corporation Act, which has been substantially adopted by more than 30 states as their corporation statute.
