NEW YORK – Bracewell LLP partner Elizabeth L. McGinley has been named a Tax Trailblazer by The National Law Journal for 2023. The series recognizes legal professionals who have done groundbreaking work and made significant policy advancements in tax law.
McGinley, chair of Bracewell’s tax department, regularly advises clients, primarily in the energy industry, on complex transactions with a focus on energy transition projects incentivized by federal tax credits, including those enacted by the Inflation Reduction Act in 2022. She has advised on numerous carbon capture projects, including some of the largest current US carbon dioxide capture and storage projects, as well as clean fuels and clean hydrogen projects.
“The credits had a greater impact than I originally anticipated, driving significant investment by emitters, pipeline companies and a new industry of carbon dioxide storage,” she told The National Law Journal. “They will drive not only new investment but also innovation.”
