Scott Segal, co-chair of Bracewell’s Policy Resolution Group, told Infralogic that although Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has pushed for aggressive decarbonization goals in his state, his background suggests a pragmatic approach to achieving climate goals.

“Walz understands the importance of maintaining business confidence in the energy sector. While he has strong street credibility on climate and renewables, he also has supported conventional energy like pipelines and transmission,” Segal said.

Walz, tapped by Vice President Kamala Harris as her running mate in the 2024 general election, is seen by industry experts as a boost to the pro-renewables policy orientation of the Democratic ticket.
