President Donald Trump’s barrage of energy-related executive orders during his first week in office has raised a number of questions from clients wondering how the orders might affect their business.
“Clients are very interested in the executive orders and what their impacts might be, how to protect against unintended consequences, and how to take advantage of expedited consideration of permits [and] regulatory change,” Bracewell’s Scott Segal told The American Lawyer.
Segal has been telling clients that the executive orders are “serious business,” but reassuring them that the orders can’t change the underlying law.
“Day one of a new administration, they are trying to set a tone,” he added. “There’s a degree of optics.”
