NEW YORKElizabeth L. McGinley, who chairs Bracewell LLP’s tax department, has been honored as a 2023 Notable Woman in Law by Crain’s New York Business.

McGinley is a leader in energy transition projects utilizing federal income tax credits, focusing on carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) projects. She represents some of the largest CCUS developers in the United States and has worked on innovative contracts and credit monetization transactions for CCUS developers. In one notable matter, McGinley – who also advises major conventional and renewable energy industry clients on acquisitions, dispositions, restructurings, joint ventures and debt and equity investments – represents Navigator CO2 Ventures LLC in its development of one of the first large-scale, commercially-viable carbon capture projects to be developed in the United States, the Heartland Greenway.

Crain’s New York Business’ annual list recognizes women with distinguished careers who demonstrate exemplary leadership skills and a deep commitment to civic, philanthropic, and mentoring activities.

“[The 2023 honorees] are raising the bar of excellence in a range of legal arenas, from labor and employment to real estate and intellectual property, noted Crain’s, which is part of the Crain network of 24 publications and trade magazines. “They’ve achieved precedent-setting victories for clients like Verizon and Jay-Z, and they find time for pro bono and mentorship opportunities.”
