LONDON – Bracewell LLP was among the law firms honored for its role in Infinity Renewables Energy B.V.’s acquisition financing of Lekela Power B.V., which won two awards at the 2024 Bonds, Loans & ESG Capital Markets Africa Awards: Acquisition Finance Deal of the Year and M&A Deal of the Year.
Led by partners Tom Jamieson and Gordon Stewart, Bracewell acted as international counsel to the mandated lead arrangers and lenders, comprising Absa Bank Limited and the Mauritius Commercial Bank Limited.
These two awards are the latest in a string of accolades for this transaction, which was named Transaction of the Year at the 2023 IJInvestor Awards, and Middle East & Africa ESG Platform Deal of the Year at the 2023 PFI Awards. Bracewell’s work on this transaction was also spotlighted in the Financial Times’ 2023 FT Innovative Lawyers Europe report, earning a highly commended designation in the energy security and transition category. In addition, the deal was recently shortlisted for M&A Deal of the Year at the 2024 IFLR Africa Awards.
