Anne Lapierre, who will lead Bracewell’s newly launched offering in Paris, talked with Law360 about joining the firm along with her team of energy and infrastructure specialists.
Lapierre said that it made sense for Bracewell to have “an add-on” in France, noting it is already very successful in the US, London and Dubai.
“France is in the [European Union], so we can provide energy and infrastructure regulatory support, and my team is very active in North Africa and Francophone Africa, so that was an absolutely complementary match for both of us,” Lapierre said.
Lapierre added that one of the major attractions for the team to move to Bracewell is that the firm is very focused on the energy sector, “and that’s what I am and that’s what the team is.” She also pointed out that up to 90 percent of investment activity that takes place in Africa is in the energy and natural resources area, giving firms like Bracewell good opportunities.
Greg Bopp, Bracewell’s managing partner, said that the addition of this 11-lawyer energy and infrastructure team “builds on the strengths of our preeminent global energy platform and broadens our capabilities in France, Africa and the broader [Europe, the Middle East and Africa] region.”
