DUBAI AND LONDON – The Al Ansar Hospital PPP – the first public-private partnership (PPP) hospital project in Saudi Arabia and a transaction on which Bracewell LLP advised the financiers – was named the Middle East and Africa Social Infrastructure Deal of the Year at the 2024 Project Finance International (PFI) Awards. The annual award honors achievement and innovation in the global project finance market.
The Bracewell team – led by Tom Swarbrick, Oliver Irwin, Tom Jamieson and Andrej Kormuth – advised the lending group of Alinma Bank, Riyad Bank and Natixis Corporate & Investment Banking. The project comprises the design, procurement, construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance of a 244-bed public emergency hospital and associated facilities in Madinah, Saudi Arabia. This landmark project, realised under the Ministry of Health Saudi Arabia MOH PSP Initiative, will improve healthcare services for the residents of Madinah, as well as for pilgrims during Hajj and Umrah. Bracewell was supported by STAT Law in the Kingdom. Tamasuk and Alghanim International served as the project developers.
“The Al Ansar project has given confidence to all prospective stakeholders that the market will support the project-financed development of significant complex and sustainable social infrastructure,” PFI wrote in its 2025 yearbook, which recapped this year’s awards.
