About Laura

Laura Young focuses her practice on resolving disputes in the energy, construction and infrastructure sectors. Her recent experience includes acting on arbitrations concerning joint operating agreements and engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracts under the rules of the LCIA and the DIA.

Laura also has experience advising on energy finance transactions and on the terms and requirements of key commercial contracts in the development of power projects.


Recent Notable Matters

International E&P company — successful LCIA arbitration relating to amounts payable by non-operating parties under the accounting procedure to a JOA concerning a North African asset, including advising on the default mechanism under the JOA   

EPC contractor — DIA arbitration relating to insurance policy claims in respect of energy from waste (EfW) and biomass projects in the UK*

EPC contractor — advice on potential claims relating to the design of a number of biomass plants in the UK*

Engineering contractor — LCIA arbitration concerning the design and construction of a UK school project*

Infrastructure investor — acquisition of a 124.5 MW portfolio of operating solar photovoltaic assets in the UK*

Major infrastructure investor — corporate advice in relation to investments in two UK CHP plants*
