About Hobie

Daniel (Hobie) Temple focuses his practice on energy and financing matters, with an emphasis in oil and gas. He counsels clients in all aspects of upstream and midstream oil and gas transactions, as well as agreements related to the ownership and development of oil and gas properties.

Prior to practicing law, Hobie was a landman with Big Star Oil and Gas, LLC in West Texas.


Recent Notable Matters

Privately held independent energy company — sale of approximately 30-40 percent of its assets to a private buyer, including over 1100 producing wells for approximately $60 million in consideration

Apache Corporation — $612 million asset sales in the Western Anadarko Basin and the SCOOP/STACK play

Parsley Energy, Inc. — $2.8 billion acquisition of certain entities holding undeveloped acreage and producing oil and gas properties in the core of the Midland Basin from Double Eagle Energy Permian LLC and certain of its affiliates consisting of approximately $1.4 billion in cash and approximately 39.8 million units of Parsley Energy

Harvest Midstream Company — $1.125 billion acquisition from Williams Partners L.P. of certain assets in the Four Corners area, including over 3,700 miles of pipeline, two gas processing plants and a CO2 treating facility

Private equity fund — bid for the assets of Approach Resources Inc., et al. in its Chapter 11 bankruptcy case Section 363 sales process following the mutual termination of the Debtors’ proposed sale transaction with the initial proposed buyer

Blue Ridge Mountain Resources, Inc. — all-stock merger with Eclipse Resources Corporation, resulting in the formation of Montage Resources, one of the largest Utica-focused operators

Private equity-backed portfolio company — negotiated execution and subsequent termination of a $950 million cash and stock transaction involving both producing and non-producing assets in the Midland Basin

Independent oil and natural gas exploration and production company — sale of approximately 8,600 net acres in Regan and Upton County, Texas for approximately $137 million

Independent oil and natural gas exploration and production company — $131 million divestiture of 13,800 net acres and 30 producing wells in Reeves, County Texas

Large publicly traded utility company — DrillCo transaction pursuant to which the utility provided financing to an upstream operator in exchange for a large acreage dedication and exclusive right to provide midstream services to the operator

Covey Park Energy LLC — acquisition from Chesapeake Exploration LLC et al. covering 41,500 net acres and over 300 operated and non-operated wells in the Bossier and Haynesville Shale plays in northern Louisiana, for approximately $465 million

Private equity-backed portfolio company — purchase of approximately 13,045 net acres in the Delaware Basin for approximately $350 million from four separate sellers

Private equity-backed portfolio company — sale of approximately 1,450 net acres in the Delaware Basin for approximately $43.5 million

Freeport-McMoRan Oil & Gas, LLC — $20 million divestiture of certain oil and natural gas assets located in central Wyoming

Independent oil and natural gas exploration and production company — acquisition of Permian acreage from an undisclosed seller for approximately $295 million
