About Chris

Chris focuses his practice on mergers and acquisitions and corporate and commercial matters in the energy sector. He has experience advising oil majors in a range of corporate matters, as well as borrowers, banks, underwriters and international financial institutions in areas of acquisition finance and project financing transactions. He has also undertaken a range of debt capital markets transactions, including a bond financing for a major European infrastructure fund.

Savannah Energy Plc — acquisition of Exxon and Petronas’ entire interests in the Doba oil field in Chad and their shareholding in the Chad-Cameroon Pipeline and Floating, Storage and Offloading vessel for a total consideration of up to $676 million

Storegga Geotechnologies Ltd — foundation equity financing with Macquarie and subsequent equity financing with GIC, Mitsui and Macquarie

Storegga Geotechnologies Ltd — acquisition of Pale Blue Dot Energy, the lead developer of the Acorn Carbon Capture and Storage Project at the St Fergus Gas Terminal in the UK

Crédit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank — as agent to the lenders in the $2.44 billion letter of credit facility and approximately $544 million in funded debt for McDermott International in the successfully completed emergence from bankruptcy  

Savannah Energy — re-admission of the shares of the enlarged group on the London Stock Exchange following the takeover of the Seven Energy Group

Anglo Tunisian Oil & Gas Limited — acquisition of Medco Tunisia, a seven asset upstream oil and gas business in Tunisia, including the associated acquisition financing

Crédit Agricole — $2.8 billion financing facility in prepackaged Chapter 11 restructuring transaction for McDermott International, as agent to revolving debtor-in-possession (DIP) lenders

Crédit Agricole — $1.7 billion new financing for McDermott International which includes immediate access to $650 million of financing comprised of $550 million under a term loan credit facility and $100 million under a letter of credit facility, as lead arranger and revolving administrative agent

Etablissements Maurel & Prom S.A. — acquisition of producing interests in Angola from Mitsubishi Corporation

CCC Oil and Gas — acquisition of Gaza Marine gas field*

CPPIB — acquisition of Shell’s upstream interests in the Corrib gas field and its processing facilities in Ireland together with CPPIB’s joint venture arrangements with Vermillion Energy*

Dalmore Capital, Equitix Investment Management — £1.4 billion acquisition of the John Laing Infrastructure Fund*

Major investment bank — bid for Hornsea Project One offshore wind farm*

Major Italian infrastructure — £1.2 billion project bond*
