Christine Wyman recently discussed with E&E News how the hydrogen industry has notched a series of important wins amid the new clean energy push.
One of the major developments was the Department of Energy’s June launch of its Energy Earthshots program, with Hydrogen Shot being the first focus. The program aims to coordinate research and development, among other efforts, with a goal of greatly reducing the cost of hydrogen fuel, along with deployment initiatives.
“You’ve got the Department of Energy standing up and taking the lead on all of this,” said Wyman, who described part of the project’s mission as “giving people the tools to use hydrogen in a way that makes sense for those people to use it.”
Hydrogen also scored victories in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, the bipartisan infrastructure bill President Joe Biden signed into law this month.
