HOUSTON – A natural, zealous advocate and a loyal colleague, Chris Dodson loves being in court and deeply cares about the people he works with and the clients he represents.
His drive to win for his clients and his goal of being part of a great team guided him to join Bracewell after graduating from The University of Texas School of Law in 2005. He has thrived in Bracewell’s collegial culture, developing outstanding litigation skills, becoming a partner in 2014 and taking on leadership roles. That journey to success was recently highlighted by Texas Lawyer when its editors honored Dodson as a lawyer “on the rise” as part of the 2018 Texas Lawyer Professional Excellence Awards.
“I am flattered to be selected to this prestigious list by Texas Lawyer,” said Dodson. “Bracewell’s unique culture has enabled me to succeed as a lawyer and serve our clients well. The same culture I embraced at the firm coming out of law school is still alive-and-well today.”
Dodson’s partners have entrusted him to foster and protect Bracewell’s culture going forward by naming him as co-hiring partner in Houston. At the firm where he once summered, Dodson now welcomes new summer associates to the Houston office from the country’s top law schools, including a 2018 class of 26 students from The University of Texas School of Law, University of Virginia School of Law, Northwestern University School of Law, University of Pennsylvania School of Law, Georgetown Law and other top schools.
An up-and-coming lawyer himself, Dodson leads by example. He is a passionate advocate for his clients, entrusted to work on their most important disputes. His practice is split evenly between complex commercial disputes and environmental litigation. Dodson also co-chairs Bracewell’s environmental litigation practice group.
Dodson’s litigation victories have earned him both peer and media recognition. In addition to his recent “on the rise” recognition from Texas Lawyer, Dodson has also been named this year by Benchmark Litigation to its nationwide list of “Top Litigators Under 40” and is recognized by The Legal 500 United States for commercial disputes, energy litigation and environmental litigation.
From commercial disputes to environmental actions, Dodson has shown the ability, experience and success that places him on par with more senior lawyers. It is this successful combination of attributes that has made Dodson a true lawyer on the rise.
