Insurance Legislation and Regulation to Watch in 2022

Bracewell’s Vince Morgan recently helped Law360 Insurance Authority look at what the insurance industry can expect in 2022 and the increasingly complex world of cyber risk.

While talk of action regarding cyber risk has been bubbling at the state and federal level since the Colonial Pipeline cyber attack, actions haven’t been taken to address risk, said Morgan.

“Maybe it’s still too fresh of a situation, but I do think that soon we’re going to start seeing real guidance coming from legislators and regulators on what companies need to be doing to protect themselves, and how they want the insurance industry [to act],” he said.
