Bracewell & Giuliani LLP announced that Heather M. Corken has joined the firm’s Houston office as a partner in the environmental strategies practice. Corken focuses on energy-related environmental issues such as advising clients on regulatory requirements, assisting them in the evaluation and negotiation of corporate and real estate transactions and representing them in environmental litigation and enforcement matters.
"Heather offers deep regulatory and transactional experience in oil and gas, petrochemical, pipeline, shale development and other areas, complementing our already strong environmental team,” said Tim Wilkins, head of the environmental practice and managing partner of the firm’s Austin office. “We have been looking for a strong addition to our Houston office for some time and we are thrilled that Heather will be joining us to take up the anchor position there, along with Senior Counsel Scott Sherman.”
Corken has experience serving as counsel for energy, petrochemical and pipeline companies and private equity firms that are seeking guidance on environmental compliance and the allocation of environmental liabilities in mergers and acquisitions. She also plays a major role in advising clients on the environmental issues surrounding shale play development, hydraulic fracturing and the permitting, construction and operation of liquefied natural gas (LNG) import/export facilities in the U.S.
