Focus on Emergency May Sideline Spending Bills

John Lee, a principal in Bracewell’s Policy Resolution Group, spoke with E&E News about the impact of COVID-19 on the review and passage of government spending bills. He noted that appropriators have set deadlines to review funding requests that accommodate the time constraints of the election year. However, while staff members are likely to have most of the information they need to write spending bills, legislation related to COVID-19 means that Congress may not have the time to mark them up.
