Financing Options: New Sources of Lending for Projects in African Oil and Gas

In the October 2018 issue of Newbase’s AfrOil: African Oil and Gas, Bracewell’s London team discusses the impact that new sources of lending on oil and gas projects in Africa. The forecast is largely favorable. The transfer of assets has created growth opportunities for smaller companies. At the same time, financial support has shifted from traditional banks — which tend to be risk averse — to a new breed of export credit agencies (ECAs) that should help fields move into production.
