Edwards Winner of Future Leader Award at Chambers Women in Law Awards, USA

HOUSTON – Bracewell & Giuliani LLP Associate Amanda K. Edwards was selected winner of the Future Leader (Private Practice) award at the 2015 Chambers Women in Law Awards, USA, which took place on June 2 at The Harvard Club in New York City. Edwards was chosen from a prestigious list of eight nominees that were shortlisted in this category.

Nominations came from both peers and the research of the Chambers Global Diversity Editor. Every category was closely competed on with an overwhelming number of entries. Winning a Chambers Women in Law Award sets a high precedent and marks an outstanding achievement of excellence and commitment in furthering the advancement of women in the legal profession.

Edwards’ practice focuses on complex issues related to tax-exempt bond financings, public-private partnerships, community development projects, as well as non-profit organizations. In addition to her practice, Edwards has a passion for building communities through community service. She has served as President of the Board of Directors for Project Row Houses and on numerous other civic boards and committees, including Texas Lyceum, Crisis Intervention of Houston, Texas One Voice: A Health and Human Services Collaborative, and the Houston Area Urban League Young Professionals.

Her commitment to the community earned Edwards one of just eight Ovation Awards given in 2014 by the Houston Grand Opera. These annual awards honor Houston’s next generation professionals who are focusing on philanthropic, charitable and civic endeavors. She was also named a 2014 Role Model by the Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce. In addition, Edwards was a spring 2014 graduate of the Center for Houston’s Future Business/Civic Leadership Forum. The emphasis of these forums are to strengthen diverse leaders who will work together to achieve regional goals and affect positive change throughout the Houston area. Edwards is also a graduate of Leadership Houston and the United Way of Greater Houston’s Project Blueprint.

Through a series of international award programs, Chambers Women in Law Awards recognizes in-house counsel, private practice lawyers, firms and companies that have excelled in introducing gender diversity and mentoring initiatives that have made a significant difference to the recruitment, retention and promotion of female legal talent.
