Dee Martin Honored as 2021 National Law Journal Crisis Leadership Trailblazer

WASHINGTON, DC – E. Dee Martin, co-chair of Bracewell LLP’s Policy Resolution Group, has been named a Crisis Leadership Trailblazer by the National Law Journal for 2021.

Martin has over 20 years of experience advising clients during significant national and international crises. This work includes securing the safe and legal passage to the United States of young women after escaping a kidnapping by international terrorists; working to ensure that LGBTQ+ youth receive specialized services when calling the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline; and helping end the 2018-2019 government shutdown by raising the national security concerns of FBI agents with Congress, the White House and media.

In her crisis work, Martin uses a holistic approach that considers all three branches of the government and the full range of media.

“Disciplined use of advocacy communications is key, especially in a crisis,” she tells NLJ. “Sometimes the best skill is simply knowing when not to tweet. Advocacy communications is here to stay, but discipline and experience are essential for their effective use.”
