Bracewell Partner W. Glenn Opel Elected to American College of Bond Counsel Board

AUSTIN – Bracewell LLP is pleased to announce that W. Glenn Opel, chair of the firm’s Public Finance Department, has been elected to the board of directors of the American College of Bond Counsel (ACBC). Opel will serve a three-year term beginning in October 2017. He previously chaired ACBC’s membership selection committee.

Opel, who is based in Austin, focuses his practice on public finance, infrastructure and transportation development, and public-private partnerships. He advises various governmental entities on state and local government finance matters, including traditional state and local municipal finance, transportation project finance, tax increment finance and public improvement districts. In addition to acting as bond and disclosure counsel, Opel represents national and regional investment banking firms as underwriter’s counsel and letter of credit bank counsel in public finance transactions.

For 13 consecutive years, Opel has been selected in BL Rankings' Best Lawyers list, and was also chosen as its Austin’s Public Finance Law Lawyer of the Year for 2018, an honor he also received in 2013. He previously served as the commissioner for the City of Austin, Texas’ Water and Wastewater Commission.
