Bracewell Named Infrastructure and Energy Projects Team of the Year at Middle East Legal Awards

DUBAI Bracewell LLP was named Infrastructure and Energy Projects Team of the Year at the 2021 Middle East Legal Awards. This is the third time that the firm has received this award.

Bracewell was recognized for its leading role in innovative and first-of-their-kind transactions in the Middle East, such as its representation in 2020 of the winning consortium in connection with the bid for, signing and financial closing of the $467 million 800.15 MW Al Kharsaah solar photovoltaic independent power project — the first utility-scale renewable independent power plant in Qatar. Upon completion, the plant is expected to meet up to 10 percent of Qatar’s peak electricity demand, helping diversify Qatar’s energy generation resources and enable the country to host the first carbon-neutral FIFA World Cup in 2022.

Andrej Kormuth led the team of Dubai and London lawyers, which also included Oliver Irwin, Clint Steyn, Tom Swarbrick and Shayan Najib, who was honored as Most Promising Newcomer at this year’s awards.

The Middle East Legal Awards honor the achievements of lawyers, law firms and in-house legal departments in the region. By recognizing exceptional achievement and best practices, the awards underline the crucial role lawyers are playing in promoting the rule of law.
