Bracewell Counsels SMU in $199 Million Bond Issuance

HOUSTON – Bracewell represented Southern Methodist University (SMU) in a bond issuance through the university’s conduit issuer, the Southwest Higher Education Authority. Approximately $90 million of these bonds were issued as taxable bonds, and approximately $99 million were issued as tax-exempt bonds.

The proceeds of the bonds will be used by SMU in its capital campaign, including the renovation of existing dormitories and construction of new dormitories, the acquisition of land and buildings for future expansion of the university, and renovation of Moody Coliseum.
