Bracewell Adds Leslie Hansen to Energy Practice

HOUSTON Bracewell & Giuliani LLP is proud to welcome Leslie M. Hansen to the firm as counsel in the energy practice.

With more than 15 years of experience as an energy commodity trading attorney, Hansen has handled all aspects of structuring, documenting and negotiating various financial derivative and physically settled products, with an emphasis on energy commodities. She has experience in developing and negotiating industry standard and bespoke trading documentation, as well as related transaction documents for financial and physical commodity transactions.

Prior to joining Bracewell, Hansen worked at JPMorgan Chase providing legal support for its global commodities business with respect to derivatives transactions and spot and forward purchases of a wide range of commodities, including coal, electric energy, natural gas, natural gas liquids, oil, and renewable energy credits. She has also worked in-house for a start-up energy commodity hedge fund business and supported the energy commodity trading business at UBS Warburg and Enron. In addition, Hansen worked as a briefing attorney for the Honorable Jimmy Carroll of the Texas Court of Appeals, Third District.

Hansen’s addition will serve to further expand Bracewell’s well-established commodity trading practice via the addition of another commodity veteran to an already strong and talented group of legal practitioners.  Bracewell’s energy commodity trading practice is headed by John Klauberg.  Our attorneys have a strong understanding of the energy commodity marketing and trading business and of standardized trading agreements of all types.

Hansen graduated magna cum laude from Southern Methodist University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Communication. She earned her Juris Doctorate from University of Texas School of Law.
