WASHINGTON, DC – Bracewell LLP is pleased to announce that David R. Poe, a partner in the firm’s energy regulatory practice, has been recognized with the Samuel H. Porter Award from the Infrastructure and Regulated Industries Section (IRIS) of the American Bar Association. Poe received the award in recognition of his leadership in the development of the law with respect to infrastructure industries and long-standing commitment to IRIS.
Poe represents clients, including industrial companies, electric utilities and hydroelectric generators, and telecommunications companies that own infrastructure assets subject to governmental regulation. In particular, he assists in the regulatory process involving the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Federal Communications Commission and many state public-service commissions. Poe also advises investors, owners and potential owners with respect to hydroelectric and transmission investments. He has an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale Hubbell and in 2017 The Legal 500 United States recommended him as one of the nation’s leading lawyers for energy litigation and regulatory matters.
Outside the firm, Poe was an adjunct professor at The Catholic University of America’s Columbus School of Law in Washington, DC, for seven years.
The Samuel H. Porter Award, named after a longtime dedicated leader of IRIS, honors individuals who have gone above and beyond in providing leadership to IRIS and to the development of the law for the infrastructure industry.
