Bracewell’s Ann Navaro assisted Law360 reporter Keith Goldberg in breaking down the energy policy U-turn the US Department of the Interior is expected to make when President-elect Joe Biden takes office.

Moves to halt new oil and gas leasing on public lands and waters and increase renewable energy development is expected to highlight the new administration’s energy policy.

In taking such a step, the DOI will have to examine how much leeway it has under laws that govern energy production on public lands, including the Mineral Leasing Act, Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act and Federal Land Policy and Management Act, said Navaro.
