About Ryan

Ryan Holcomb, chair of the firm’s power practice, represents clients in a wide variety of transactions in the electric power and oil and gas industries. He negotiates and documents acquisitions and divestitures of assets and companies, joint venture, financial and commodity hedge transactions for private equity investors, energy companies, utilities, financial institutions, and commodity trading businesses.

Ryan has been nationally ranked by Chambers & Partners’ Chambers USA in Energy: Electricity – Transactional (2015-2023) and Projects (2010-2013). According to Chambers USA, Ryan “has a wealth of experience in energy and power” (2015) and “is an outstanding lead deal counsel” (2016). Clients added “he is extremely commercial, very easy to work with and has good ideas and is solution oriented” (2015), and he “knows how to run a transaction very well” (2018).

Rockland Capital, LLC — acquisition of GenOn Bowline Power, LLC, which owns a 1,165 MW dual-fuel power generation facility in New York

Arroyo Energy Investment Partners LLC — sale of two US electric power generation investments, Brandywine and Broad River.  The sale includes more than 1,100 MW of power generation.

Sol Systems — minority investment from KKR to scale Sol Systems’ Impact + Infrastructure approach and the formation of a strategic partnership with a commitment from KKR of up to $1 billion to acquire shovel-ready solar development projects 

Phillips 66 — investment in a minority ownership stake in Shell Rock Soy Processing LLC, which is developing a soybean oil processing facility in Shell Rock, Iowa
