About Daniel
Daniel Pope advises energy, infrastructure, and industrial clients on environmental permitting and transactions and represents clients in litigation and environmental enforcement defense under a number of environmental and natural resources statutes and regulatory programs. Daniel’s practice includes providing support and guidance to clients as they perform environmental compliance audits under state and federal frameworks. He has also advised clients on environmental issues connected with emergency response and has assisted in internal investigations regarding compliance with environmental laws.
Daniel has represented numerous high-profile projects against several citizen suits and related claims under the Endangered Species Act, the Clean Water Act, the Safe Drinking Water Act, the National Historic Preservation Act, and the National Environmental Policy Act. In addition to closely tracking regulatory developments that affect the midstream industry, Daniel monitors nongovernmental organization litigation against rules and policies that can affect the industry and energy markets more broadly.
Daniel also hosts the Environmental Law Monitor, Bracewell’s environmental and natural resources law and policy podcast.
Prior to joining Bracewell, Daniel served in the Office of the Attorney General of Texas as an intern in the Civil Medicaid Fraud Division, and eventually as a law clerk in the Special Litigation Division. He also served as a judicial assistant for The Honorable Fred Biery, Judge to the US District Court for the Western District of Texas, San Antonio Division.

(NYSE: HEP) and HollyFrontier Corporation (NYSE: HFC) will acquire Sinclair Transportation Company and Sinclair Oil Corporation, respectively, from The Sinclair Companies for a combined value at announcement of approximately $2.6 billion
NRG Energy, Inc. — $760 million sale to an affiliate of ArcLight Capital Partners, LLC of its ownership interest in eight fossil generating facilities from its East and West regions totaling approximately 4,850 MWs
Midstream Energy Company — represented a major pipeline company in connection with the defense of federal environmental citizen suits and tort claims as well as state agency enforcement and remediation actions arising from a release of drilling fluid to groundwater during pipeline construction

Global Infrastructure Partners — preferred equity investment of up to $200 million in Dos Rios Crude Intermediate LLC, a subsidiary of Noble Midstream Partners LP formed to hold Noble Midstream’s 30 percent equity interest in the EPIC Crude Pipeline, which is being designed with an initial capacity of 590 MBbl/d from the Permian Basin and Eagle Ford to the Gulf Coast
