Nicolai Sarad and Fernando Rodriguez Marin Join Bracewell’s Project Finance Team in New York

NEW YORK – Bracewell LLP announced today that Nicolai J. Sarad and Fernando J. Rodriguez Marin have joined Bracewell’s New York office as partners in the project finance group. They join from Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP, where Sarad was co-head of the firm’s projects team.

“Nick and Fernando are highly accomplished project finance lawyers,” said Bracewell Managing Partner Gregory M. Bopp. “Their international experience on energy and infrastructure projects complements Bracewell’s strengths in energy and finance. We’re pleased to welcome them to the firm.”

Sarad has extensive domestic and international experience advising on energy and transportation projects, including public-private partnership transactions (P3), in the United States and Latin America. He advises financial institutions, developers, equity investors and government agencies on the financing and development of major transportation, thermal and renewable power, biofuels, water, mining, process plants and manufacturing projects. Sarad holds a B.A. from Reed College, an M.A.L.D. from the Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy at Tufts University and a J.D. from UC Berkeley School of Law.

Rodriguez Marin has more than 25 years of experience advising developers, investors and financial institutions on infrastructure, energy and real estate projects, most notably in Latin America and Spain. He represents clients in project finance and P3 transactions, including roads, rail and other infrastructure transactions (both brownfield and greenfield), as well as renewable energy projects. Rodriguez Marin earned his LL.B. from Universidad de Sevilla and his LL.M. from Harvard Law School.

“Nick and Fernando have worked together for many years and are highly regarded by the project finance industry,” said Ron I. Erlichman, a partner in Bracewell’s project finance group in New York. “Their addition to the project finance team will expand Bracewell’s reach into Latin America and deepen our P3 infrastructure practice. Additionally, their lender experience will deepen and expand our already globally recognized lender project finance practice.”

“I’m looking forward to working with the highly collaborative team at Bracewell,” said Sarad. “The firm has a clear vision for growing the New York office and projects team by capitalizing on Bracewell’s strengths in energy and finance.”

“Bracewell is widely recognized as a leading firm for energy and finance work,” adds Rodriguez Marin. “I look forward to working with my new colleagues in strengthening the firm’s Latin America platform and P3 practice.”
