Bracewell’s DeLeon and McNulty Take Part in Dallas Dinner Table

HOUSTON – Bracewell & Giuliani LLP Partner Tricia R. DeLeon and Associate Joshua T. McNulty partook in the Dallas Dinner Table on January 19, 2015, to coincide with the Martin Luther King Jr. National Holiday. Dallas Dinner Table organizes small dinners across the Greater Dallas area one night a year where participants share experiences and perspectives on race in a casual setting over dinner in a structured discussion.

Tricia facilitated a group of 10 people over one of the 61 tables joining in the Dallas Dinner Table experience across the Metroplex. Josh also attended a dinner as a guest at a separate location.

“I signed up for Dallas Dinner Table hoping that it would provide me an opportunity to participate in an open forum and have honest discussions about a topic that is not always easy to discuss,” said Josh. “The manner in which the event was conducted met my expectations in that regard; however, it exceeded them in a way that I did not expect. There were a number of statements made during the dinner that made me think critically about certain issues from a wholly different perspective. It’s not that the statements challenged any belief that I previously held; rather, it showed me a new perspective that I hadn't really considered before. I walked out of DDT thinking, and that is a great thing.”

Dallas Dinner Table is an independent non-profit organization focused on improving race relations in the DFW Metroplex. Dinners are held in private homes, churches, businesses or restaurants and hosted by gracious citizens who provide an evening meal to participants from diverse backgrounds. Facilitators guide dialogue at each table towards cross-cultural communication with a focus on personal action and growth, and the advantages of cross-racial relationships.
