AT&T-Time Warner Appeal May Stall Vertical Mergers, Lawyers Say

Companies considering a vertical merger similar to AT&T’s $85.4 billion acquisition of Time Warner may want to pump the brakes now that the Justice Department has appealed the combination.

In a recent Bloomberg Law article, Daniel Hemli discussed the DOJ’s appeal with Victoria Graham.

The DOJ’s decision to appeal AT&T-Time Warner could cause some companies considering other large vertical deals to wait until we know the outcome, especially since we are only looking at a few more months, says Hemli.

A decision is expected in early 2019.
