Webinar - Offshore Occupational Safety: Who Is In Charge?

Thursday, June 12, 2014
9:30 am - 10:30 am CT

With the increased scrutiny of offshore safety and compliance, employers have struggled to understand the tangled jurisdiction of the various federal agencies involved, including OSHA, BSEE and the USCG.

Offshore jurisdiction over occupational safety is complicated by the interplay of many different factors, including the location of the work, the type of vessel or installation involved, and the nature of the work being performed.

Further, overlapping authority under the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act and other statutes has led to numerous interagency memoranda of understanding and administrative directives, which add to the difficult task of sorting out agency roles.

Bob Nichols and Kevin Ewing presented a one-hour webinar in which they untangled this web of jurisdictional questions and provided a practical perspective for businesses with offshore operations.
