Ebrahim Talks IP Issues with 3D Printing

Associate Tabrez Ebrahim will be moderating a presentation entitled “You Make it, You Buy It: The Business & Licensing of 3D Printing” at the July Chapter meeting of Licensing Executives Society, which will be held at the Houston Technology Center from 6:00-7:30 p.m. on July 26, 2016.

3D printing is changing and redefining the traditional manufacturing model by democratizing, localizing, and personalizing production of goods. In doing so, 3D printing technology and its growing adoption is raising new challenges and uncertainties regarding intellectual property rights with licensing implications. New business entities are developing new applications and services for a rapidly growing 3D printing ecosystem. Such new businesses are facing emerging intellectual property issues, related to copyrights, patents, trade secrets, and trademarks. Moreover, 3D printing technology development and its rapid adoption is raising new licensing issues that impact agreements, business relationships, supply chains, and transactions.
